The Trust is establishing People’s Rights Convention (PRC) after realizing that there is need for citizen convergence in setting and contributing to the policy, legal and institutional frameworks within the country as it relates to the rights and liberties of all citizens particularly women and youths. Apart from resident associations which are active at the local level currently, there are no real citizen led and driven platforms which address issues at the national level. The WRC shall be used connect the deliberations of these to the different policy and think tank platforms created by the movement. The WRC is a unique approach employed by The Tri-Color to capture the voice of the citizens on policy matters and involve them directly in the national discourse which has largely been dominated by civil society actors. The Tri-Color will also use this convention to consult women and youth and develop model policies which will be then used to influence the position of the government with bias on defending and upholding the rights of women and youth as they are usually vulnerable to policies promulgated by the authorities.

Research, Learning and Knowledge Management

Research and knowledge management is critical for The Tri-Color to design projects and interventions which respond to the needs of women and youth from time to time. This includes mid and end of project evaluations. It is the organization’s thrust to fully involve the women and youths in all the stages of the project that is, during design, implementation and evaluation. To strengthen its skills and expertise in research and knowledge generation and management, The Tri-Color is developing an incubation hub tailor made for women and youth which serves as a resource center for The Tri-Color Trust members. This digital platform will also facilitate cross learning and exchange of ideas amongst youth and women across the different countries.

The success of The Tri-Color interventions is based on effective collaborations with stakeholders and partners working on similar issues. The Tri-Color believe in consensus building, well-structured coordination and shared vision in implementing programs and interventions with other likeminded institutions which include like-minded CSOs and other non-state actors, independent commissions, parliament, academia, government line ministries and departments, private sector, local authorities and development partners through establishing Memorandum of Understandings with these institutions. This is critical to ensure complementarity and minimize duplication of efforts in servicing the communities. This multi stakeholder and multi sectoral approach is implemented through round table platforms and the great indabas platforms.

Given the high stakes and complexity of interlocking problems related to environmental protection and climate change, The Trust through the collective solutions approach seeks to employ big bold innovative ideas deduced from the metrics of gathered environmental crises through research. If the capacity of The Trust is being stretched, it will increasingly flounder as environmental problems become more intractable.
